General

What is a gaylord box?

A gaylord box is a large, heavy-duty corrugated container designed to fit on a standard 48" x 40" pallet. They're used across industries for bulk storage, shipping, and material handling. The name comes from the Gaylord Container Corporation, an original manufacturer.

What's the difference between a gaylord box and a pallet box?

The terms are often used interchangeably. "Gaylord" is the common industry term, while "pallet box" or "bulk bin" are more generic descriptions. They all refer to the same type of large corrugated container.

How long do gaylord boxes last?

With proper use and storage, a gaylord box can last through multiple uses. Grade A boxes may last 5-10 uses, while repaired boxes can extend their useful life significantly. Factors like load weight, handling, and storage conditions affect longevity.

What sizes of gaylord boxes are available?

Standard gaylord boxes are 48" x 40" (length x width) to fit GMA pallets. Heights vary from 24" to 60" depending on your needs. We also carry octagon-shaped boxes and custom sizes. Our most popular sizes are 48x40x36" and 48x40x48".

What's the weight capacity of a gaylord box?

Weight capacity varies by construction. Double-wall boxes typically hold up to 1,500 lbs, while triple-wall heavy-duty boxes can support 2,500+ lbs. Always check the box rating and consider your specific contents and stacking requirements.

Can gaylord boxes be stacked?

Yes, gaylord boxes are designed to be stackable. Most can be stacked 3-4 high when properly loaded. However, stacking capacity depends on the box grade, wall thickness, and weight of contents. Heavier loads should be placed at the bottom.

Buying

What grades of boxes do you offer?

We offer three grades: Grade A (premium, minimal wear), Grade B (standard, minor imperfections), and Grade C (economy, noticeable wear but structurally sound). Each grade is inspected to ensure it meets our quality standards.

What's the minimum order quantity?

We don't have a strict minimum, but ordering in pallet quantities (typically 20-50 boxes depending on size) offers the best value. Contact us to discuss your specific needs.

Do you offer volume discounts?

Yes! We offer competitive pricing for bulk orders. The more you buy, the better the per-unit price. Contact us for a custom quote.

How much do used gaylord boxes cost?

Prices vary by grade and quantity. Grade A boxes typically range from $12-18 each, Grade B from $8-12, and Grade C from $4-8. Volume discounts are available for larger orders. Contact us for an exact quote based on your needs.

Do you sell new boxes as well?

While our focus is on quality used boxes, we occasionally have access to new or once-used boxes. Contact us if you specifically need new boxes and we'll see what's available.

Can I see samples before ordering?

Absolutely! We encourage customers to visit our facility or request samples so you can see the quality firsthand. This helps ensure you're getting exactly what you need for your application.

Do you offer regular supply contracts?

Yes, we work with many businesses on ongoing supply agreements. This ensures consistent availability and often qualifies for better pricing. Contact us to discuss a supply contract for your needs.

Selling

What condition do boxes need to be in to sell?

We consider boxes in any condition. Even damaged boxes have value for recycling. We'll provide a fair price based on the quantity and condition of your boxes.

Do you offer pickup services?

Yes! We offer free pickup for larger quantities within the GTA. For smaller quantities or locations outside our service area, we can discuss options.

How quickly can I get paid?

We typically process payments within 24-48 hours of pickup and inspection. For established accounts, same-day payment may be available.

How much will you pay for my used boxes?

Pricing depends on the condition, quantity, and type of boxes. Clean, Grade A quality boxes command the highest prices. Contact us with details about your boxes for a quote. We always offer fair market value.

What's the minimum quantity for pickup?

For free pickup within the GTA, we typically require at least a pallet load (20-50 boxes depending on size). Smaller quantities can be dropped off at our facility. Outside the GTA, minimums may be higher to justify transportation.

Do you buy boxes with printing or labels?

Yes, we buy boxes with printing or labels. However, heavily branded boxes may be valued lower since they're harder to resell. Clean, unprinted boxes typically get better prices.

Recycling

What happens to recycled boxes?

Boxes in good condition are cleaned, inspected, and resold. Boxes that can't be reused are broken down and recycled into new cardboard products, ensuring nothing goes to waste.

Do you provide recycling certificates?

Yes, we can provide documentation of recycling for businesses that need to track their sustainability metrics or compliance requirements.

Is there a charge for recycling pickup?

Pickup is free for qualifying quantities within our service area. We may even pay you for boxes in reusable condition. Contact us for details.

What's the environmental impact of recycling gaylord boxes?

Recycling one ton of cardboard saves approximately 17 trees, 7,000 gallons of water, and 4,100 kWh of electricity. By reusing boxes multiple times before recycling, the environmental benefits multiply significantly.

Can you help with our company's sustainability reporting?

Yes! We can provide documentation of boxes recycled, estimated environmental impact, and certificates of recycling for your sustainability reports and ESG compliance requirements.
